ADSL for Macs

Salut à tous!

Does anyone know how to set up the ADSL-connection from Hell? I´m speaking about France Telekom and their completely strange configuration and softwares, I have been trying to set up the Ethernet modem Speed Touch and it just won´t work, the settings are changing in the TCP/IP panel and everything is a huge mess! The so-called support SUCKS! They don´t know shit, and when I visited a office where the support said I could get a better CD with more softwares they said , Yes it´s complicated with these Macs... I told the ignorant SOB that it took me 20 seconds to set up with Tiscaly/Libertysurf because it´s just to choose Connect via Ethernet and DHCP-server, Voilá, done! And this is driving me nuts, HELP Please!

Est ce que quelqu'un sait comment configurer l'ADSL? Je parle de France Telecom et de leur configuration complètement étrange, j'ai essayé de configurer le Speed TouchEthernet, les parametres TCP/IP changent et tout est un énorme désordre! j'ai appelé le support technique et ils ont dit, c'est compliqué avec ces Macs ... j'ai dit qu'il m'a fallu 20 secondes pour le configurer avec Tiscaly/Libertysurf via Ethernet et le DHCP-SERVEUR.

And what is the configuration of the modem PPtP or PPPoE ?
If you're using OS X, you don't need any additionnal software (PPPoE configuration). If the modem is in a PPtP configuration, then you should need PPtPgui (hope I don't make a mistake in the name).
If you're using OS 9, you just need Enternet (in case the modem is in a PPPoE configuration wich seems the most logical case) or LAN Tunnel Builder (in case of a PPtP configuration).

Hi again folks, thanks for the input and the translation!
I´m using OS 9.2.2 US English on a PowerBook G3 500 MHz. The modem is a Speed Touch Home Ethernet, I guess it uses PPPoE. I tried booting up in X and that PPPoE-thing there didn´t work either. What I really wonder is if the light should be flashing, on Tiscaly´s modem it´s a fixed light when it´s in sync?!? I bet the the suckers on French Telekom didn´t do the connection right! They say it´s live, but they also said so many other things that were pure bullxxxx. This country just isn´t in the 21 century yet. But I like the cheese and all the nice people that don´t work for F T-kom so I´ll stay.

this is the status of the LED´s, from the right: Power is solid green, Line sync flashes

and I just talked to France Telekom on the phone... guess what, the incompetent bastards hasn´t connected me yet, and they said it was done a week ago. Makes me tired, I´m going to bed, thanks for all the help. Hope I can give some assistance back.

Yes when it's not working under Os X, FT is most of the time guilty

Ok so there is no sync.

Two reasons are possible :

1 : your VPI/VCI are wrong on the modem.

>change it by connecting to modem.

2 : you're still not connected to DSLAM.

>there only is FT that can do something.

Did you ever had a connexion on this telephone line ?

Thanks again Anthony, (sorry for spelling your name wrong before), yes, there is still a modem wanadoo connection on the same phone line that works, so I guess I´ll have to wait for France Telekom´s slow guys to do their job.

and the other guy who has a monkey with a gun as an icon, why do you even bother to be on this site? Learn english instead, I guess you´re one of the people who voted for Le Pen, do you know he started to make his fortune by selling Adolf H´s speeches? If it hadn´t been for the english speaking countries, you and many others around here would have been speaking german instead! So wake up!
